February 4th 2022 : Scream 6 Already Greenlit….

Well, it certainly comes as NO Surprise Whatsoever that a sixth film has just been Greenlit, with the new film SCREAM grossing over 106 Million dollars already it would have been very puzzling if there was no plans for a sequel.. but something tells me that Kevin Williamson may have had his original second Trilogy (Originally in his mind back in 2011 with Scream 4 before he departed the production)… in mind again this time, and despite him not taking up the main writer role, he certainly had MAJOR input ( Take Big Swings ) on the fifth film… so i personally suspect that a 6 & 7 may already be in the minds of the film makers..  The hollywood reporter and many many more websites have already spread the news and its no surprise anymore about a sixth film coming..

Text below from Hollywood Reporter

Paramount and Spyglass are headed back to Woodsboro. A sixth installment of the Scream franchise has been greenlit, with the creative team from the successful 2022 film back in action.

Once again, Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will direct, with James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick returning to pen the script. Production is slated to begin this summer.

“We are tremendously grateful to the fans around the world who enthusiastically received our film. We can’t wait for audiences to see what Radio Silence, writers Jamie & Guy and Project X have in store for our Woodsboro family,” Spyglass and Paramount said in a joint statement.

October 11th 2021 : NEW EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK AT SCREAM 2022 from Entertainment Weekly!

Well, here we go again…. after seeing the first teaser poster i did wonder what would come next, the teaser trailer, or more info.. !!
And Now, we see EW have managed to get an EXCLUSIVE first look at the next movie with some new images, (Dont worry, non seem to be spoilers, or giving anything away)…
EW talk about the story of how the directors, Matt and Tyler wrote Neve Campbell a letter expressing why they wanted to do another film, and as we all know, it was because Wes had inspired them, and for good reason that touched good with Neve, as she loved Wes Craven!!
I have personally been avoiding many smaller items before now about the next film, but this article is harmless, we see some nice HQ pics and hopefully soon we’ll see the teaser trailer.

Pics and info below from EW.com
There are a few more pics on the original article…

Do you like scary movies?

Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are hoping to scare audiences with the fifth Scream movie, titled simply Scream, when Paramount and Spyglass Media Group release the film on Jan. 14, 2022. But in the spring of 2020, it was the pair who were biting their nails waiting to see if the franchise’s longtime stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette would jump aboard the first film in the franchise since 2011’s Scream 4 and the first not to be directed by the late Wes Craven. The absence of one or more of the characters portrayed by the actors (Campbell’s final girl Sidney Prescott, Cox’s journalist Gale Weathers, and Arquette’s lawman Dewey Riley) would certainly raise eyebrows among the slasher franchise’s devoted army of fans. Moreover, Sidney, Gale, and Dewey were all prominently featured in the script for the movie, about a new killer who puts on the Ghostface mask and begins targeting teenagers to resurrect secrets from Woodsboro’s corpse-filled past.

The Scream shoot took place last fall in Wilmington, N.C. Campbell, Cox, and Arquette were joined by Marley Shelton, who played Deputy Judy Hicks in Scream 4, as well as franchise newcomers Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sonia Ammar, Jack Quaid, and Melissa Barrera. The latter plays the character Sam Carpenter and admits she initially had a hard time keeping a handle on her emotions when it came to acting with the OG Scream-ers.

Scream will be released on Jan. 14, 2022.

Also, isnt that just a stunning EU Stamped mask too !!!! Very reminiscent of a ‘Scream Resurrection’ and even a ‘Scream 4’ mask in some ways.. Very Clean, and perfect paint job!!

June 26th 2020: Spyglass Media and Paramount teaming up to bring us SCREAM 5 !

Well here we are, still ‘mostly’ in lockdown… and little pieces keep popping up with regards to Scream 5… This time its just the facts regarding that Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures will be releasing the future SCREAM 5… and its planned for a 2021 release… 25 years after the first film!!  As far as anyone officially knows, David Arquette is the only cast member confirmed right now, but we all assume, that Neve and Courteney are to follow, at least with talks…. We already know that Neve has had contact… but i hope the main ‘Trio’ will hopefully be back!! HOPEFULLY!!

More from Variety below… FULL ARTICLE HERE!

Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures have joined forces to co-produce the relaunch of “Scream,” sources tell Variety.

The latest installment, in which David Arquette is set to reprise his role as Deputy Dewey, will be directed by “Ready or Not” filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

Additional castings to follow.

Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett will work with James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, who are co-writing the project. Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak are serving as producers while creator Kevin Williamson and the third member of the Radio Silence trio, Chad Villella, are executive producing.

Targeted for release in 2021, Paramount will market and distribute the film worldwide in all media with select international territories and domestic pay 1 television being handled by Spyglass.

Principal photography is expected to begin late summer in Wilmington NC. Additional casting updates will be announced in the coming weeks.

May 25th 2020: Neve not signed on as of yet, but a letter was sent..

Well, here we are yet again, these little bits of news just keep coming steadily now… This time with Neve again, while she has NOT officially signed on to Scream 5 at this time, it seems she IS open to the idea, but like with Scream 4, it has to be for the right reasons, and done right, and to think, with Scream 4, we knew Wes was directing… yet she said No to Kevin Willimason at first too..  I cant remember the full story or what she said afterwards in the documentaries, but im sure Wes had a hand in getting her back… This time though, well, i only HOPE that she gets a bit more talking done with the two directors..
And that is what the article today includes, it seems the Directors of the future Scream 5 have sent a letter to Neve… Info below from Collider..

You’ve said that you were initially reluctant to do another Scream without Wes Craven, which is very understandable, but what ultimately you changed your mind and got you interested in that possibility?

CAMPBELL: Well, I’m not a hundred percent on it, but to be honest, the two directors (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett) have made some great work. I’ve watched their films, and they’re really talented. They wrote a letter to me, expressing what great fans of Wes’ work they are, and how honored they are that they’re getting the chance to make Scream 5 because the Scream franchise is the reason that they’re directors now. So, that was really sweet. They really wanna honor Wes’ style of work and honor the movies. That was a lovely thing to hear. So, we’ll see. Hopefully, we can all see eye to eye on everything and make something great, but it’s a process.

Have you always felt like there was more of Sidney’s story left to tell?

CAMPBELL: I think you can always tell them more with these stories, and they’re such fun films. There’s obviously a huge audience for them, and the audiences wants to see more of them. You can always go further with the journey. Certainly, with Sidney, she comes to some new shift in her life, every time, and I don’t know. We’ll see.
