Yeah that's good fun getting to see these as soon as they came out. The remakes of classic films that I've seen have been pretty good so far. I'm in the minority of horror fans which loved the Halloween remake, the Dawn of the Dead was especially impressive because it was practically it's own film, Texas Chainsaw Massacre was okay, I liked the prequel better.

Generally if you mention a remake of horror film to the horror community and express interest it's considered sacrilege, mostly it depends on the film. The one remake at the moment at I'm really worried the same with every other horror fan is the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, because they're going with a psychological approach. The last time a studio did that with a horror film they got Prom Night which is apparently terrible but Michael Bay's production company is producing it and they've done the TCM and F13 remakes so it could still be good, the main question and worry is who's going to play Freddy?...

Yeah I thought that was awesome. With the Prom Night remake, most people on IMDb seem to be slaughtering the film due to lack of blood.

I personally liked the Haloween remake. There were a few things that kinda irked me about it, but I don't think it deserved the criticism people are giving it. Plus Malcom Mcdowell was a pretty good Dr. Loomis :)

I'm generally against horror movie remakes, but I always give them a chance, because there are some really good ones out there. I think all the backlash towards remakes that comes from the horror community is kinda of expected.most of the remakes today are usually of cult classic, low budget flicks most people haven't heard of outside of the horror communinty. so when Hollywood says they want to remake it, the movie has this huge budget and big name actors it loses the charm the original had, and the fans kinda get annoyed by that.

Also, while not all are bad (TCM & Dawn of the Dead, the upcoming Friday the 13th looks pretty good too. ) it seems the bad out weigh the good (Black Christmas, The Hitcher, The Fog, Day of the Dead....what the Hell were they thinking?) The horror genre dosen't exactley have a good track record with remakes. So after so many horrible movies, when fans hear there is going to be yet another remake they think "Uh-oh." and automatically condemn it with out giving it a chance.

...sorry...I was having a Randy moment! Randy1

I wouldn't want one either.

SickBoy, I do that all the time, I can go on a horror movie rant like that! <clicks finger>
