Went to see this today and it is brilliant, I may say it's Tarantino's best but I'm gonna watch it again for a definite opinion on the film but it sure is one of his best at least. Brilliant script, music, cast, acting, characters it's classic Tarantino essentially, big movie buffs will notice the homages to "Sergio Leone" in certain camera shots which gives the "Spaghetti Western" feel to the film which Tarantino wanted and the music score for the film just perfects it and adds a lot of tension especially during the opening scene. There's been some controversy surrounding the ending of the film but when "Chapter 1" appears on the screen (The film is divided into 5 chapters) it does say "Once upon a time in nazi occupied France" it's in an alternate reality where a group of soldiers known as "The Basterds" are brutally killing Nazi soldiers which spreads fear throughout Germany and the Third Reich, it's basically a revenge fantasy against Nazi's it's not meant to be reality here and it's great in everyway. The trailers did make it out to be just about the soldiers killing Nazi's and how it's very action packed when it's more story based than action though when there is action and Nazi killing it sure is violent and bloody I'm glad Tarantino didn't go over the top with them killing Nazis, when we see Hitler ranting about them and how much it's affected things we get the idea on how threatening and cruel the group is to Nazis. Another plot in the film is a jewish girl who's family were killed by an SS soldier known as "The Jew Hunter" and she now runs a movie theatre and when a Nazi soldier falls for her he convinces a German director to premire his next film at her theatre and when she knows about how many Nazi officers will be coming including some of the leaders of Third Reich she plots her revenge against them and quite soon "The Basterds" find out about the premire and plot to destroy the theatre.

I saw it a while ago, wasnt for me I guess. :| If you expect it to move at a normal rate...prepare to watch filler after filler scenes. Try all he might to grimace and put out a slick southern accent even Pitt couldn't keep me interested the whole run time. Plus the ending....well :?
